The Coalition for Smarter Transportation has released a ‘Transit Tech Spotlight” that focuses on available technologies for trip planning, fare payment, and integration.Technology can play a critical role in improving rider experience, thus increasing transit ridership and reducing the number of people on our roads. Simple, seamless, and multi-modal trip planning and fare collection are key elements of a smarter transportation system. This transit tech spotlight highlights numerous companies and their products and services that municipal organizations and transit agencies can use. In addition, CoaST provides information on how agencies can use Federal funds for these products and services and we make a number of policy recommendations in the paper.
CoaST will follow-up the release of this paper with the development of several tool-kits for agencies including an online tool-kit and a series of webinars.
